Some say I don’t need the bullhorn or mic at events.

I’m Joe “Bocce” Quartarone, the founder of Joe Bocce International Events, and appreciate you visiting my site. As you browse through nearly 2 decades of bocce adventures, you’ll see examples of entertaining bocce events, tournaments and coaching clinics we have organized for people just like you and your guests. If you feel your group would also have fun build lasting memories while playing bocce, send me an email today or let’s jump on a call (978-204-3663). Our team is ready to help make your special event a huge success.
From Newbie to North American Rep of the world governing body:
Hospitality, planning events, coaching, community building and fundraising all come naturally to me. Early in my career, I was a restaurant/catering company owner and was heavily involved with a local youth lacrosse program as a coach and board of directors member because of my college playing experience. The program grew from 30 players in our very 1st year to over 300 within 5 years. That passion for coaching children transitioned into coaching High School and College lacrosse teams, and for the past 15 years into coaching/training adults and youth in bocce, both socially and competitively. Some of the female players won the bronze in a Pan Am Tournament. Others competed in US National Tournaments and one player won gold in the 2019 US Nationals. The highest level of competitive bocce has taken me to Argentina, Brazil, Turkey and France as the Head of Delegation for Team USA and sometimes as team coach. Currently, I am the US Bocce VP of the East Coast, US Bocce International Rep and the North American Rep to the CBI (world bocce governing body).
Besides events for my clients and volunteer work with the US Bocce Federation, my background also includes several years of volunteer experience organizing bocce events and tournaments for the Methuen Sons of Italy. As the co-director of 6 large events at this non-profit private Italian club, we raised funds that netted over $75,000. Three events were US Nationals. Additionally, on many occasions I helped run events for my late dear friend, Mario Pagnoni, who authored The Joy Of Bocce and sadly died in 2018. If you want to order a book, let me know.
Over the past one and a half decades, I have directed small private bocce outings for multi-billion dollar companies, fundraising / charity bocce tournaments (Special Olympics, St. Jude, Rotary Clubs, Kiwanis Clubs, Foster Kids organizations, etc.), corporate team-building functions, incentive travel events for sales teams, trade association events and regional, national and international competitions. To date, I have managed or co-managed the bocce committee, marketing and operations for the US Bocce National Championships in Boston 3 times and planning for 2026 is underway. During the 2019 US Bocce Nationals, 140 players on 103 teams were hosted over 7 days in 7 separate tournaments. The numbers were similar for the 2022 Nationals and are predicted to similar in 2026. Prior to these, I led the team that planned and ran the 2016 Pan American Bocce Friendly Games and the 2024 North American Championship.
Refereeing international events in 2018 and 2019 brought me to St. Louis and Chicago where I was lucky enough to be on the courts for the Championship Finals games for both events. The Italian Men’s team beat Brazil in 2018, and in 2019 the Brazilian Ladies’ team beat the Argentina in a thrilling game. Over the years I have won 1st place in a club championship and regional events, Silver in the 2024 North American Championship as well as being a Silver and Bronze medalist in the US Nationals in 2015. Competing in the US Qualifiers for the 2017 World Games took me to Chicago. Lastly, it’s been an honor to have represented the US Bocce Federation as the Head of Delegation at world meetings in Brazil at the 2016 Pan Am Women’s Championship, Argentina at the 2019 World Championships, Turkey at the 2024 World Championships and France at the 2025 Junior World Bocce Championships.

In Boston with Italian friend, Gianluca Formicone (9x World Champion). It was awesome to congratulate him in person in Argentina when he won the 2019 World Championship.
